Automatic Water Samplers
Products for mobile and stationary sampling of water, wastewater, stormwater and surface water.
Extended Automatic Water Samplers
Automatic water samplers collect representative water and wastewater samples without continuous manual attendance, using programmable routines and controlled sample handling. Stationary and portable configurations support composite and discrete sampling while maintaining sample integrity through features such as cooled storage and secure enclosures.
Automated sampling is frequently used to satisfy regulatory requirements and to establish defensible records of discharge quality, storm events, and receiving-water conditions. Beyond compliance, sampling programs provide operational insight - pinpointing load sources, verifying treatment performance, and enabling targeted troubleshooting when intermittent problems are suspected.
Common sampling strategies include time-paced composite sampling, flow-proportional sampling driven by external signals (for example, from a flowmeter), and event-triggered sampling based on process conditions. Event logic can be enhanced with analytical measurements so that peak loads initiate immediate collection, improving capture of transient excursions that might otherwise be missed between scheduled grabs.
Typical applications span municipal and industrial wastewater influent/effluent, pretreatment and sewer system monitoring, surface water and river sampling, stormwater and watershed programs, and well or intake monitoring. Product sampling for quality verification in industrial water use-cases is also common where independent lab confirmation is required.
Implementation centers on sampler siting, suction lift and line routing, bottle configuration, and preservation requirements (including cooling). Many modern samplers include an onboard transmitter and can be expanded into a compact monitoring station by connecting additional sensors (e.g., pH, conductivity, oxygen, turbidity), reducing panel count and improving correlation between sample results and real-time process conditions.
