Multipoint Thermometers

Multipoint thermometers are engineered temperature profiling assemblies that measure temperature at multiple locations within a single vessel or line, enabling detailed thermal profiles rather than a single-point value. RTD and thermocouple sensor options support reliable measurement across a wide range of temperatures and pressures, from critical reactors to storage tanks. Standardized, engineered assemblies are typically built to specification to improve process control and support safe operation where gradients and stratification matter.

Portfolio architectures include multiple mechanical concepts to match the application geometry and invasiveness requirements. Options span 3D-customizable flexible sensors (with or without thermowells), linear arrays with a main thermowell, linear arrays mounted on a rope or in a conduit for tanks/silos, and minimally invasive designs for constrained installations. Assemblies can be configured with or without temperature transmitters, and sensor selection can include both RTD and TC technologies, including ProfileSens-based solutions.

A distinguishing capability is the availability of diagnostic chambers on selected multipoint assemblies. These chambers are designed to enhance safety by containing potential leakage and providing additional information that can support predictive maintenance. Configurable designs (basic or advanced) and replaceable components improve maintenance flexibility for configurations with or without thermowells, helping reduce downtime while preserving measurement integrity.

Operational benefits are tied directly to profile quality and survivability. Multipoint systems enable straight or three-dimensional temperature profiles for reactors and vessels and support profile recording for control of reactor processes or storage conditions in tanks and silos. Material selection and mechanical design can be aligned to high pressures, high temperatures, and corrosive media, while modern sensor technology supports short response times where dynamic behavior is critical.

Typical applications include oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, and food & beverage duties where stratification, catalyst-bed gradients, or storage temperature distribution must be understood and controlled. Hydrocarbon processing vessels, process reactors, and large storage tanks/silos benefit from multipoint profiling when a single measurement cannot represent the true thermal state of the process volume.
