Lean Process Indicators & Control Units
Process indicators and control units provide local visualization, signal processing, and basic control functionality at the measurement point or within control panels. They are available in formats suited to panel mounting, field installation, and DIN-rail mounting, supporting both centralized cabinets and distributed skids while maintaining clear, at-a-glance presentation of critical process values.
Functionality often includes universal sensor inputs that accept multiple signal types (e.g., current, voltage, resistance, RTD, thermocouple), enabling flexible deployment across diverse loops. Outputs may include analog retransmission, loop power supply, digital outputs, and relays, while multi-color displays with bargraphs and plain-text alarm indications improve interpretability under real operating conditions.
Control-unit variants extend beyond indication into practical edge control. Measured and calculated values can be used as sources for outputs, relays, and interfaces, enabling limit monitoring, simple interlocks, pump/valve control, and signal conversion/adjustment without adding a full controller layer. Optional functional safety approvals (where available) support use cases that require a defined safety integrity framework.
A key benefit is operational clarity at the point of action: local indication reduces dependence on remote HMIs for basic confirmation, while integrated alarming and control logic can keep a subsystem stable during communications disturbances. Loop-powered, HART-transparent indicator options support indication in hazardous areas while preserving digital accessibility for diagnostics and configuration.
Typical applications include packaged OEM skids, pump stations, dosing systems, utilities, and remote installations where local indication and straightforward control are required. They also support process recording and supervision, process control, and signal adjustment/conversion roles where the interface between measurement and actuation must remain simple, robust, and maintainable.
